Study with us
Our programme is approved by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) under section 439 of the Education Act 2020, and Deacon Trust is accredited to provide it under section 441 of the Act. Graduates will be awarded the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Social and Community Services) (Level 4) (Mental Health and Addiction Support). When you achieve this nationally recognised qualification, you will be able to work professionally in communities, churches, mental health support organisations, for care providers, or in government services.
Our course
Location: Christchurch
Dates: Starts 11 February 2025, breaks in line with school terms
Duration: One year: 38 weeks. Overall your time commitment (incl weekends) should be about 30 – 35 hours per week.
Time commitment: Classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays, with two hours of small group sessions on Wednesdays. In Terms 2 and 3, you will be on placement one day a week and in Term 4, placements are 3 days a week (with reduction in classroom hours). You will need to spend several hours a week doing self-directed study and preparation for assignments (using provided resource materials). Overall, your time commitment (including weekends) should be about 30-35 hours per week
Cost: $6,210.00, GST incl. Fees must be paid before the course commences.
Enrolments: Enrolments are now open. Course sizes are limited with student numbers capped at 25. Minimum age is 20 years and you must be eligible to study as a domestic student. A Police Check under the Childrens Act 2014 is mandatory. You may also be asked to attend a pre-enrolment interview. Click here for further information.
